Alan Mills

1926 — April 19, 2012

Passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the age of 85 at Lakeview Manor Nursing Home. Alan served for four years during WWII in the Royal Artillery. After which, Alan started his lifelong career in the film business as a film producer, mainly producing commercials. During this time, he traveled extensively. He eventually became a general manager and vice president of the Toronto division of a large company in New York and ended his career at Hayhurst Advertising (which later became Satchi & Satchi). He was very creative and had a gentle and generous nature. His many hobbies included Formula One Racing, classical music, photography and anything connected with wildlife and nature. He was a wonderful family man, a devoted husband and father and dignified gentleman. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 60 years, Daphne Mills, his son Nigel (Terri), his daughter Lynette, his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survived by his dear sisters Beryl (Robert) and Valerie (Jim) of England and sister-in-law Pauline (Sterling) of Alberta. Alan will be fondly remembered by his lifelong friends Jan & George. Many thanks to the staff of Lakeview Manor for their loving care during Alan’s stay. Respecting Alan’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at M.W. Becker Funeral Home LTD., 490 The Queensway S., Keswick ON [905-476-7711] on Saturday, April 28, 2012. at 11:00 a.m. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. For those who wish, donations to the Parkinson Society or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
