Gordon Sidney Wood

It is with great sadness that the family of Gordon “Gord” Sidney Wood announce his peaceful passing at Lakeview Manor, in Beaverton, on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at the age of 99.  Beloved husband for 73 years of Jennie Wood (nee Mauro).  Loving father of Jennifer Coxworthy (Ian) of Sutton, Stephen Wood (Tracy) of Holland Landing and the late Lee S. Wood.  Cherished ”Papa” to Kimberly (Adrian) Lindsay, Maryanne (Jeff), Douglas (Michael), James (Christina), Edward (Alana).  Great grandfather to Benjamin, Liam, Emily, Connor, Landon, Grace Eleni, Olivia, Benjamin and Caleb.  Dear brother of the late Robert Wood (Mimi) and late Phyllis Chalmers.  Uncle to many nieces and nephews.  Gord was a longtime former resident of Richmond Hill where he established his business Gordon S. Wood Optical. With unwavering dedication, he served the community for over three decades. Following his retirement, he and his beloved wife relocated to Keswick, where they embraced a life of travel, treasured moments with family, and cherished friendships.  His lifelong passion for horses, nurtured since his youth on his grandparents' farm, remained close to his heart throughout his life.  The family will receive friends at MW Becker Funeral Home, 490 The Queensway South in Keswick, Ontario on Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m.  In memory of Gord, donations to Southlake Regional Health Centre would be appreciated.
