Audrey Joan Hall

1936 — July 23, 2022

February 24 1936-July 23, 2022

Cherished Wife of 61 years to Christie Hall . Mother of Stephen Hall , Cyndy and Brian Blair, and Glenford Hall Loving Grandmother of Sean Hall, Chet Blair and Andrea, Hogan Blair and Rickey-Lake, Brianne Blair and Jacob, Evan Hall and Talia. Dear Great Grandmother to Avery Ridsdill-Blair and Ava Ridsdill-Blair. Born in Mimico to Cosette (Cosy) (Anderson) and William (Glen) Stephens. Predeceased by her brother William Stephens. Audrey went to Mimico High School and was a long distance swimmer with the Lakeshore swim club, teammate to Marilyn Bell and under the guidance of Coach Gus Ryder. She enjoyed target practice at the Lakeshore Gun Club in the basement of the Goodyear plant on Lakeshore Blvd. and was an avid tennis player. The family moved to King City in 1955 where Audrey joined the King City girls baseball team and worked at Sterling drug in Aurora. Audrey met Christie in 1958 at the dance hall in Port Bolster while vacationing at Cosy and Glen’s family cottage. Audrey and Christie married at All Saints Anglican Church in King City and moved into their first home which Christie built on a severed lot from the Hall family farm in Sharon. It is in Sharon that Audrey’s passion for finding treasure in the junk pile was born and where she established her first of many Antique stores. In 1969 they bought a 50 acre farm on Baseline road in Sutton West where she put her experience of summers on her father’s family farm in Lefroy to good use. Important to Audrey were her family and friends her community, her Antiques and her Euchre. Her volunteer work included the Georgina Historical Society the Sutton fair board and the Red Barn Theatre in Jacksons Point. She kept her Swim instructors and life guard certification up to date and loved teaching disabled children to swim She served for many years as a Trustee for the York Region School Board. She had a weekly column for the Georgina Advocate and was a Board member for the Queensville Cemetery, Club 55 Seniors Centre, The Yellow Brick House and Sandgate Women’s shelters. Audrey believed there was a fortune in the junk pile and she could be seen visiting second hand stores, auctions, church bazaars and of course the many garage sales on Saturday mornings. Those who visited might admire a trinket or two on display and if you turned one over chances are you found a price tag beneath. Friends and family were recipients of these treasures whether they wanted them or not. The family will hold a Celebration of Audrey’s life Tuesday Sept 27 2022 at the M.W. Becker Funeral Home, 490 The Queensway South, Keswick, Ontario from 1 to 4 p.m. with Eulogy at 2:30 p.m. In Audrey’s memory, donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada would be greatly appreciated.
