Thomas Earl Gardner

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas “Tom” Earl Gardner, who left us peacefully on July 31st, 2024, surrounded by his family in Newmarket, Ontario, at the age of 71.

A devoted and hardworking family man, Tom was deeply proud of his son Matt (Kristina) and his daughter Christine (Andrew), whom he loved dearly. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures - cruising around in his 1975 Monty, playing darts, golfing with friends, and spending time puttering in his garage. Above all, Tom treasured the time spent sharing everyday life with the love of his life, his beloved wife and best friend of 49 years, Dale (née Hamm). 

He was a loving Papa to Catlyn and Ava, who will forever hold him in their hearts. Tom was predeceased by his parents, Earl and Cecilia, and his sister, Charlotte. His absence will be deeply felt by his siblings Jim and Ann; his mother-in-law, June Houston; his brothers-in-law, Brian Hamm (Teresa) and Bill Hamm; his sister-in-law, Beverly Barrett (Jean); his many nieces and nephews; his extended family; and the countless friends who were fortunate to know him.

In accordance with the family’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Saturday, August 10, from 1 p.m - 4 p.m at the Newmarket Legion (707 Srigley Street, Newmarket, ON L3Y 1X4). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Tom's name to the Margaret Bahen Hospice for York Region, whose exceptional care and comfort provided great solace to him and his loved ones during his final days.
