Nolan James Ion

Passed away suddenly at the Hospital for Sick Children on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at the age of 15 years. Cherished son of James Ion, and Korina Welch (Craig Dennis). Treasured brother of Jax Dennis. Beloved grandson of Alida & Richard Simister, Paul Ion, Amy McKay, and Paul & Dawn Heshka. Great grandson of Shirley McKay. Much loved boyfriend of Maddy Hill. Dear nephew of Korey Welch (Jessie), Cheryl Ion, Nicole Ion, Chris MacDonald (Ann), Katie (Corey Paul), Britanny Blake, Kyle MacDonald, and Calvin Briscoe. Nolan will be deeply missed by his cousins, Hunter and Hailie Salmons and many, many friends. Special thanks to the staff at Sick Kids for all their help and efforts, the Georgina Blaze team, The Upper York Admirals team, all of the hockey communities across North America, and especially the entire community for their love and support.

A Condolence Walkthrough for those that can’t attend the services on Monday will take place at the MW Becker Funeral Home, 490 The Queensway South, Keswick, on Sunday, March 30, 2025 from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. Visitation will be held at the Ice Palace, 90 Wexford Drive., Keswick (blue pad - please dress accordingly) on Monday, March 31, 2025 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 2 p.m. Private Family Interment.

Nolan loves animals and cared deeply for all of them. In Lieu of flowers, he would love donations be made to the Georgina Animal Shelter as well as more donations for funding to the Upper York Admirals Hockey team to continue Nolan’s love and passion for hockey. He would want nothing but the best for his team and others.
