Courageously at Margaret Bahen Hospice on Monday May 27, 2024, after outlasting cancer to reach his 80th birthday and live into his 81st year. Beloved husband of Sharon Lynn Draper and the late Rita Headley (2004). Devoted father to Alexander (Laura) and Nicholas. Proud grandfather of Grace and Allegra. Loving brother of Lorraine (Larry), Glenn (May), and the late Douglas (2013) (Josephine). Cherished stepfather and grandfather to Sharon’s late son Kevin (2009), Monika (Kevin), and their children: Tyler, Chris and Clay. Reunited with his late parents William (2004) and Gladys (2007). He will be greatly missed by his nieces, nephews, golfing buddies, and Florida friends.
Ken thrived in life, and his passion shone through two happy marriages, a successful teaching career, a travel-filled retirement, and his love for sports and music: a gift he passed on to his children. Always outgoing, unique and engaging, his positive outlook was infectious and admired by friends and caregivers even as he went through treatment. His friends down south say he was the quintessential spirit that sparkled around them.
The family would like to sincerely extend its thanks to the doctors, nurses, volunteers and support staff at the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre, Margaret Bahen Hospice, and 6th floor at Southlake as well as the homecare and personal support workers who fought for Ken. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation.
A Celebration of Life will be held in August where we will recount all one-million rounds of golf that Ken played being sure to include his many hole in one shots.
