John Arnold Rider

Passed away peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket, on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at the age of 89 years. Predeceased by his wife Holly Rider. Cherished father of Dianne Byrne of Keswick, and Karen Cahill of Port Colbourne. Beloved grandfather of Daniel Partanen of Hamilton, Clinton Longard of Guelph, and Christopher Longard of Port Colbourne. Dear brother of Brian Rider of New Lowell, Barbara Foster of London, Linda Browning of New Lowell, and predeceased by Patrick Rider, Buddy “Lawrence” Rider, Danny Rider and Margaret Morrison. He will be dearly missed by his family and loved ones. Visitation will be held at the MW Becker Funeral Home, 490 The Queensway South, Keswick on Friday, September 6, 2024 from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service in the Chapel. Interment at Keswick Cemetery at a later date.

A special thank you to all the staff, especially the 3rd floor medical team at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket and the RCU Rehabilitation Centre in North York for all their work with John’s mobility issues from fractures, providing their care and following the wishes of John in his palliative state.

Though John’s stay at Sunrise Assisted Living in Aurora was short, his medical team was wonderful and provided comfort during his transition to living with assistance.

In memory of John, donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or Georgina Animal Shelter would be appreciated.
