Deb passed away peacefully on October 6, 2012, at the age of 53. Deb was the adored wife and best friend to Steve Cunningham, loved stepmother to Andrew, Evan, Amanda and Jacqlyn. Beloved daughter of Millie Read and the late George Read. Loved sister of Stan and Kathy, Sandy and Murray. Devoted aunt to Meghan and Ken, Michael and Robyn and Mackenzie and great-aunt to Addison and Emma. Dear daughter-in-law of Florence Cunningham. Her pride and joy were her two dogs, Georgie and Blue and her cat Sable.
Not only was she one of the first female parts manager, she also earned the distinction of GM Master Parts Manager. Deb took pride in her craft and her incredibly loyal customer base is part of her legacy. She unselfishly organized toy and food drives for the community and her special love was for the children. Deb will be missed but we will always remember the many good times and the many people she touched in her short life.
A talented seamstress and gift-wrapper extraordinaire, Deb's family always received thoughtful, beautifully wrapped gifts. Deb was an avid reader and competitive Scrabble player against her sister which often brought out her wicked tongue.
Much of Steve and Deb's free time was spent watching NASCAR and playing cribbage, a game that was in her DNA, thanks to her father. Deb also managed to make Steve a fan of Coronation Street.
Her many relatives, friends and colleagues will miss Deb.
A celebration of Deb's life will be held at a Cayley Hall, 6 Turner St., Roches Point, on Sunday, October 21, 2012 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
