A Power of Attorney is a document which gives the individual you have appointed in your will the ability to make binding decisions for you while you are living. The Power of Attorney's responsibilities end at the time of death, at which point the Executor's responsibilities begin. Frequently the Power of Attorney and Executor are the same person, but this is not always true. It is important to outline the Power of Attorney and Executor in your will to avoid any confusion at the time of death.
